St. Joseph’s NS. Please see below information about our school.
School Day
- Junior and Senior Infants: 9.20am - 2pm
(12.30pm for first two weeks)
- 1st class to 6th class: 9.20am - 3pm
Morning break: 10.55 am - 11.10am
Lunch Break: 12.25pm - 1pm
Infant children are to be collected at the classroom door.
For safety reasons, we will only allow children to be collected by the named person/people on the enrolment form. Please advise the school if anyone other than the authorised named person is coming to collect your child. Absent children/early leavers must bring a note in. Children leaving early must also be signed out at the front desk.
School Uniform
-Grey trousers/skirt
-Grey jumper with red stripe
-Red polo shirt
-Grey, white or red socks/ tights
-Plain black supportive shoes
Change in School Uniform
**From September 2026 the children will only require to wear the navy tracksuit and white polo t-shirt. The jumper must contain the school crest.
All items can be purchased in Stan & Tony’s in Wicklow Town.
All clothing and books/ belongings must be labeled with the child’s name.
PE day for all classes is every Wednesday and Friday.
Healthy Lunches
The school operates a Healthy Lunch policy
School hot lunches are provided by Carambola for every child.
Settling in
Every effort is made to ensure that the settling period is as easy and pleasant as possible for the children and their parents/carers. For the first week the parent/guardian is encouraged to leave the child at the classroom door and to avoid entering the classroom after the first day.
Childhood Illnesses / Medication
Should your child contract a contagious illness please advise the school as soon as possible. On occasion we have encountered head lice and we would ask all parents to be vigilant in checking for and treating them promptly. If your child requires specific medication please make an appointment with the class teacher to discuss.
Communication
The school calendar will be provided in early September.
Communication will also be received by messages on Aladdin so please ensure that the school has your up to date email/phone details at all times.
If you wish to meet with the class teacher please arrange an appointment in advance with the school secretary.
Parking
For safety reasons, please do not park at the school gates.
